Mission

Howland Farm Museum’s mission is to provide joyful, interactive, hands-on educational experiences and events to the local community and visitors of the Finger Lakes region, on the original site of a 19th century Cayuga County homestead.

Vision

The vision of Howland Farm Museum is to provide a safe space, where guests of all ages are encouraged to explore their own strengths and potential, through the reflection of historical context, resulting in excitement to actively participate in the creation of a sustainable and equitable future, where humans thrive due to choosing compassion and harmony with all beings in our environment and each other.

VALUES

Inclusivity

Every being's story is important and will be researched and told. What is recorded and most documented is information about the owners: Augustus Howland, Thomas Lapham and others. But what are the experiences of their wives and children? The tenant farmers and merchants? The Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫʼ who were displaced? The escaped enslaved individuals who found freedom here? The animals which were raised here?

Sustainability

While we may romanticize about how sustainable life in "olden days" was, the reality

is that many aspects were very wasteful and short sighted, due to the perceived abundance of raw materials. However, Howland Farm Museum has the advantage of choosing the best practices of sustainability from the past through the present to exist in a harmonious balance with Mother Earth!

Connectivity

The complex puzzle of History is infinite when seen not only in how circumstances and events are all related and affected by each other, but also how the past touches the present and future. When viewed holistically, the sensitive fibers connecting each of our lives with everything else in time and space, can be perceived more clearly!

We are ALL connected!

Play & Fun

It is important to engage in "play" and the type

of old-fashioned, innocent fun that perhaps we grew out of at some point. At Howland Farm Museum, guests are encouraged to look through their inner child's eyes. You have permission to be silly, goofy and allow yourself to be filled with simple wonderment that can be found in a leaf of grass.

Wellbeing

Taking care of ourselves is essential before we can take care of other people, creatures or our planet. Actively working to achieve or maintain physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health is a greatly respected commitment.

We are all connected and the love we show ourselves, reflects on others in the same way that the love we show others is love we show to ourselves.

Divine Spirit

We are all divine beings. We are all connected.

Howland Farm Museum is encompassed by Sei He Ki Sanctuary, and is aligned with the higher spiritual calling of living in harmony, through acts of love, with all of Creation.

Howland Farm Museum is a drug and alcohol free property AND vegan space in order to honor the intentions and authenticity of the sanctuary space.
